We work to fulfill King Abdullah 2nd’s wish to enhance the cooperation with China and aim at opening new branches in the Arab countries - Senator Abu-Ghazaleh


AMMAN --- February 10, 2011--- Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG – Confucius) celebrated the Chinese new year and spring festival on February 3rd, 2011 at the premises of TAG – Confucius Institute in Amman in the presence of Senator Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org); Mr. Loay Abu- Ghazaleh, deputy chairman and a number of Chinese officials in the Chinese Embassy in Amman as well as media representatives, the faculty of TAG – Confucius Institute, students and their families and others interested in the Chinese culture and friends of the Institute.

The ceremony included various Chinese cultural activities that varied from children singing performances to documentaries about China, painting, Chinese calligraphy and costumes, Chinese musical instruments as well as the Chinese cuisine.

On this occasion, HE Senator Abu-Ghazaleh highlighted the Chinese – Jordanian cooperation saying: “Through this cooperation, we are fulfilling His Majesty King Abdullah II wish to enhance our ties with China in various fields, including teaching Chinese language, and we are in the process of enhancing this relation by virtue of opening new branches of TAG – Confucius Institute in the Arab countries for teaching Chinese language.”

Mr. Sami Al Kharouf, executive director of TAG – Confucius Institute, who escorted the attendance in a tour around TAG – Confucius Institute showing them the different sections, pointed out the increase in the number of Jordanians interested in learning Chinese language and asserted the various achievements of the Institute since its establishment in 2008. Such achievements include the scholarships organized by TAG – Confucius Institute in cooperation with Confucius Institute in Beijing.

Mr. Al Kharouf invited attendees to learn the Chinese language being the language of the future.

Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG – Confucius)

Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute was established in September 2008 to promote the Chinese language and culture, in order to reach a better mutual understanding between Arab and Chinese cultures.

This is one-of-a-kind initiative based on the cooperation agreement between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and the Confucius Institute in China.
 
The Institute was named after Confucius, the world-renowned great thinker, educator and philosopher in Chinese history. Confucius's thoughts have influenced China and other areas in the world for nearly 2000 years.
